Jami writes fiction, essays, and other hybrid doodads. She also dabbles in cut and paste things of the zine variety. For her Muggle job she works as in a library, so she always smells like books. Her current project, The Sin-Eaters, won a Creative Artists Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Japan-US Friendship Commission, which will allow her to travel and complete her manuscript in Japan in the spring and summer of 2017.
She received the Walter Dean Myers Grant from We Need Diverse Books in 2015, and was a finalist in the SLS/DISQUIET Literary Contest and the Luminarts Creative Writing Competition. She was writer-in-residence at the Wormfarm Institute in 2013, and she received her MFA in creative nonfiction at the Pennsylvania State University.
She lives in Chicago.
